BACK IN ACTION

Gerald Peasland shows how its done!

His advice to Allotment Holders is “GET DIGGING”

The Town Council have now completed all the necessary works required to bring the allotments back to a cultivation standard. Plots have been allocated, and it is anticipated that there will be approx 40 plots on this site. Many people have been waiting for an allotment for over 10 years and there were over 50 people requesting allotment provision in the Town. The allotment holders are forming an Allotment Committee and we look forward to including regular updates from this Committee in future additions on the Crier.

I would like to thank Gerald Peasland , Ken Trouth and the Allotment working group for all their help in assisting me to complete the required site work.

The expenditure required for legal fees and the necessary ground works was £26,565 and whilst the Council has absorbed £11,535 of this amount from general funds they must raise £15,030 from 2007/08 Precept. The Council consider that this finance has been appropriately allocated to enable residents of Towcester to pursue this popular recreational pastime.

Allotment Holders are delighted they are now back on their plots. They have formed an Allotment Committee and will be joining the National Allotment Society .

We look forward to seeing the results of their labour in the spring!
