Recreation and Leisure Facilities
The Recreation/Leisure Committee of the Town Council is responsible for:-
Play Areas in the Town
Recreation Ground
An equipped children's play area for children up to 12 years old. Other facilities include seats and a picnic bench. Open space for activities i.e. football and basketball.
Sandyholme Road
An adventure play area with balance beams, scramble nets, tyre walk and a log cabin.
Belle Baulk
There are two play areas on Belle Baulk. An equipped children's play area and an adventure play area with a log cabin, balance beams and a tyre walk.
The Shires - Northampton Road
There is one equipped play area on The Shires for children 2 - 12 years old.
Holly Hill/Beech Close
A climbing frame is erected on a small play area at Holly Hill and adjacent to Beech Close.
The
Riverside Walk
The Riverside Walk runs from Bickerstaffe Road to the Leisure Centre on the North of the Brook and Buckingham Way to the Leisure Centre on the South of the Brook. There are plans to continue the Riverside Walk on South the of the Brook to Water Lane.
Open Areas:-
The Town Council is responsible for mowing open areas in the Town and the Highway Verges on behalf of Northants County Council.
Moat Lane Toilets
The toilets in Moat Lane are maintained by the Town Council and are open 6 days a week, Monday - Saturday. Closed all day Sunday.
Litter
The council employs 3 litter pickers to regularly litter pick all the open areas in their ownership.
Street Furniture
Litter bins and seats are considered for areas when requested by the Public.
Dog Bins
The Town Council are responsible for the supply of 60 dog bins and disposal of dog waste in Towcester.
Towcester Youth & Community Centre
The Community Centre is
situated in Islington Road and is available for hire at a competitive
rate - contact Dianne Isaacs or Elizabeth Hamp on 01327 350995 to
book any facilities at the centre. The Town Council is working with
The Towcester Partnership to secure a new Community Centre for Towcester.
Towcester in Bloom
The Town Council work in conjunction with Towcester Business Club to environmentally improve the Town during the summer months. We would like to hear from members of the public and sponsors who could assist us in extending the colourful window boxes and planters.
