A5 Roadworks Update 12th October 2018

Update from Highways England:

"Good Morning.

I can confirm that works to take out and replace the previously poured reinforced concrete slab over the gas main in Phases 2b (part) and 2c, which unfortunately did not reach the required strength to enable it to be trafficked, have been completed and the concrete has reached the required strength.

On Sunday 14th October 2018, tack coat will be applied to both the concrete slab and milled carriageway surface and asphalt surface course material machine laid to a compacted thickness of 40mm.

On Monday 15th October 2018, High Friction Surfacing (HFS) will then be laid to areas of the newly resurfaced carriageway and road markings applied to replace those removed during the surfacing works, expansion and contraction joints will be cut in the carriageway and preparations made for the road to be re-opened by 7am Tuesday morning.

Access will then be available to Phases 2a, b and c from both the Brackley Road / Northampton Road junction (Traffic Management will still be in place to prevent HGVs entering the High Street) and Richmond Road.

This will mean that the blue off-street parking permits for Phases 2a, 2b and 2c will no longer be required.

From 7.30am on Tuesday 16th October 2018, the A5 in Phase 3 will be closed between Richmond Road and Silverstone Bridge so that works can start on highway drainage and the construction of a new reinforced concrete slab over the gas main.

Drainage works will continue in Phase 3 under temporary two way traffic signal control between Silverstone Bridge and Vernon Road.

As previously stated, we will be operating an Off-Street Parking Permit system during our works in Phase 3. Unfortunately, parking will not be possible along the A5 during our works in this area and alternative arrangements will need to be made. I apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

NB: Please note that all our planned road works may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Towcester is open for business as usual during these essential works and all of the public car parks are accessible so please use your local shops, bars and restaurants and ask others to do the same. I'm sure that your local business community would appreciate it.

I apologise for any disruption our works may cause. Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.

To help us identify and make improvements to our responses, I would be very grateful if you could please take our feedback survey by clicking here

Kind regards
