Get involved in the St Lawrence Flower Festival from home
St Lawrence Church Flower Festival
7th – 9th August 2020
An invitation from the Revd Paula Challen...
It is with much regret that due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic that we have made the decision to postpone this year's Flower Festival in Church. However, we have a suggestion of how we might do it differently, please read on…
This traditionally has been a time when we have celebrated the life and work of our Patron Saint, Lawrence. Using God's creation with Flower and the gifts he has bestowed on some of us. We would normally have invited you along with other individuals and organizations to be a part of our weekend of celebrations which opens on the Friday and continues all weekend culminating with two special services on the Sunday, Festal Communion at 9:30am and closes with Choral Evensong at 5pm.
As with many other things this year we need to think differently and we are hoping the groups and individuals might willing to take part in a Flower Festival from your home.
Using the flowers and plants from your own gardens or perhaps pictures from your daily exercise walks that for you capture this year's theme.
Instead of displaying your arrangements in church we wondered if you could display them in your house windows over the weekend which would have been flower festival and take a photo which we can then display via the Tove Benefice website and social media pages.
At the moment we haven't thought about how we let people know where the arrangements are, perhaps word of mouth might do it or perhaps by then we can put together a street map. Watch this space…
I hope very much that you will be able to contribute to the Flower Festival and that we shall see you at all or some of our services and other activities during the weekend.
