Local elections in Northamptonshire will take place on Thursday 1st May 2025

Your Town Council Needs You!
Towcester Town Councillors are the champions of the community who invest time in local projects and issues for the benefit of residents and the local community. Councillors attend to local needs of residents, local groups and businesses, make decisions on local services, collaborate with West Northants Council to identify local needs, and progress vital projects to invest in the future of the community.
Councillors individually, can and should be very different in their skills base, experience and work status, all of which contribute to a good and balanced representation of the town. The ability to take the initiative, be creative and have time to give to the role are all very important aspects of being a good Councillor.
As a councillor representing your community, you will help keep it a great place to live and work. You will be supported in your role and will be expected to undertake training and be comfortable working electronically. With a positive outlook and a can-do attitude, you will also be willing to work as part of a team. |

Here is a short step by step guide to standing as a councillor:
- Download our new councillor election guide
- Collect or print your nomination papers
- Fill in the required information (example paper)
- Obtain two signatures*
- Sign the papers yourself
- Have a witness sign the papers
- Deliver in person to the West Northamptonshire Council office at The Forum, Towcester, by 4pm 2nd April (No appointment needed**)
*When completing nomination papers, both your proposer and seconder will need to provide their polling district and elector number. The polling district will be listed as "Towcester" followed by the Ward in which they reside. These details can be obtained directly from Electoral Services.
To request this information, individuals can contact Electoral Services by phone or email, providing their own details to receive their polling district and elector number. Please note that, due to data protection regulations, individuals may only request their own elector number and cannot do so on behalf of others. However, this process is straightforward and typically takes just a few minutes via phone or email.
