HIGH WINDS FORECAST 16-18 February 2022

Bright yellow warning sign stating danger of high winds and flying debris

The Met Office have predicted very high winds from Storm Dudley from later afternoon on Wednesday 16th February with gusts locally up to 50mph, quickly followed by Storm Eunice on Friday with more severe gusts up to 70mph across the midlands.

There is the potential for widespread disruption, falling trees and flying debris.

How to be prepared, stay safe and protect your property:

* Secure loose objects
* Close and fasten doors and windows
* Park vehicles in a garage if possible or clear of trees, buildings, walls and fences
* Stay indoors as much as possible
* If you go out, try not to walk close to trees or buildings, boundary walls or fences
* Do not attempt to make repairs while the storms are in progress
* Take care when driving on exposed routes, such as bridges
* Slow down and be aware of side winds, especially when towing or driving a high-sided vehicle - delay your journey or find alternative routes
* Do not touch any telephone or electricity cables that may have come down
* Make sure vulnerable neighbours or relatives are safe
