Notification of upcoming essential road maintenance - A5 Old Stratford to Hinckley

National Highways will be carrying out essential maintenance work on the A5, between Old Stratford and Hinkley. Work will include the following aspects:

  • Safety barrier repairs 
  • Drainage improvements 
  • Lighting
  • Grass/tree cutting 
  • Roadside signage
  • Third party work

They will also take the opportunity to complete any other work following routine inspections while the A5 is closed. 

When will this work take place?
Work will be carried out overnight on weeknights only, between 8pm and 6am, from 23 February to 25 March. To complete out this work safely, traffic management will be installed as follows:

Cuttle Mill Lane in Paulerspury to Towcester Racecourse roundabout

2 and 3 March

Towcester (Tove) roundabout to Weedon Bec

16 March

Gibbet roundabout to Cross in Hand roundabout

17 March

Cross in Hand roundabout to High Cross junction

19 March

Nutts Lane to Dodwells roundabout

21 and 22 March

A5/M69 Stretton Baskerviille Interchange to Logix Park

24 and 25 March

Long Shoot to Higham roundabout

During closures, access to frontages will be maintained throughout.

23 to 26 February diversion – A5 closed in stages listed above

2 and 3 March

What does this mean for you? 
During the closures, fully signed diversions will be in place. Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout. Every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum. National Highways always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes. They apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
