West Northamptonshire Council Consultation on Draft Road Safety Strategy for West Northamptonshire

Road Safety is fundamental to creating healthy, thriving and connected communities across West Northamptonshire. While roads are safer today than in past decades, the reduction in casualties has slowed down in recent years. In 2025, 134 people were killed or seriously injured on our local roads.

The draft Road Safety Strategy sets out a long-term plan to 2045, to make our transport network safer, reduce collisions and build confidence for everyone, however they choose to travel.

The draft Strategy has been developed through analysis of collision data, national policy and best practice, Town and Parish Council feedback and engagement with Northamptonshire Safer Roads Alliance (which is a partnership between a number of organisations, including the Emergency Services, North Northamptonshire Council, National Highways and Kier).

WNC are now launching a six-week consultation to seek formal feedback.

The consultation commenced today and will close on Sunday 6 December at 11.59pm.

The draft Road Safety Strategy is available to view on the consultation page. https://www.westnorthants.gov.uk/consultations/help-shape-draft-road-safety-strategy

To help people respond to the consultation, Frequently Asked Question, are available on the consultation page.

There will also be a virtual drop-in session via Microsoft Teams. The session will include a short presentation followed by an opportunity for questions:

• Monday 23 November from 10am to 11:30am
