Have your say on the Police, Fire and Crime Plan (public safety plan)
Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone is asking for your views on her Police, Fire and Crime Plan, which sets the blueprint for policing and fire services in Northamptonshire, and on the funding that will help police and fire deliver these priorities.
A new plan has been developed to set out priorities for how the police and fire services keep our communities safe. This followed significant engagement across the county that they have called the ‘Big Conversation’ and sets out three main missions:
- Visible and Accessible Community Services
- Professionalism and Standards
- Stronger Public Safety Partnerships

Funding and the precept
Funding for your police and fire services is made up of the precept and central government grants. The precept is the amount of your council tax that goes towards police and fire – that currently amounts to around 18% of your annual council tax bill.
The Consultation
The priorities set out in the Plan and the funding to deliver them are intrinsically linked so they are asking for your views both on the priorities set out in the strategic plan and how much extra you would consider paying for these priorities to be delivered.
Those views will be considered before the Commissioner finalises the Plan and takes her proposals of the level of council tax precepts to Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime panel in February 2025.
The survey should take no more than 15 minutes to complete and closes at 11.59pm on Sunday 5th January 2025.
