Towcester A43 Roundabout Works in December/January
The following update has been received from Persimmon Homes:
Jackson Civil Engineering has been contracted by Persimmon Homes to construct the A43 roundabout at Towcester. These improvements are crucial for enhancing traffic flow and safety in the area, and they will connect the relief road to the A43, which will help reduce traffic through Towcester once it opens.
Phase 1 of the construction has started, and vegetation clearance is complete. In November 2024, temporary crossovers of the A43 were installed, a process expected to take about four weeks and finish in December 2024.
The work is being carried out overnight, with restrictions on the offside lanes of both the north and southbound carriageways, and a temporary 40mph speed limit. The nearside lanes will remain open during this phase.
On 18 December 2024 we will close the A43 northbound carriageway for 1 night to install the temporary protection barriers at the recently completed crossover points and remove the traffic management restrictions to avoid congestion during the Christmas period.
This closure will involve the full closure of the northbound carriageway and a closure of lane 2 of the southbound carriageway, lane 1 will remain open. Northbound diversion route includes using the A421 to Bletchley and then joining the A5 back to the A43 at Towcester.
On 6 January we will close the A43 northbound carriageway from 10pm to 6am to install the contraflow on the northbound carriageway.
On 7 January we will close the A43 southbound carriageway for 1 night from 10pm to 6am to install the contraflow on the southbound carriageway. Southbound diversion route includes using the A5 to Bletchley and then joining the A421 back to the A43.
A 24/7 emergency recovery service will be available for vehicle breakdowns within the work area throughout the construction period.
The works are expected to be completed by Spring 2026.
We understand that construction can be disruptive and are committed to minimising the impact on local businesses and residents. During construction there may be a need for occasional night works and temporary road closures and diversions and we will ensure clear signage is provided and maintain access to properties at all times.
Regular updates on the progress will be provided through our website and social media channels.
